Abstract

The paper studies the expression of mathematical thinking and reasoning capacity for 5th grade students through teaching the topic of decimal numbers. Decimals are one of the new contents in the Math 5 program that students have not been familiar with before, so the process of forming the concept of decimals for students also faces many difficulties. The thinking of elementary school students is concrete and intuitive thinking, so the formation of concepts of decimal numbers and mathematical operations on decimal numbers are visualized through quantity measurement. This article explores some expression of mathematical thinking and reasoning capacity, thereby proposing some pedagogical approaches to develop these expression, contributing to the development of creative thinking and positivity in mathematical learning.
